The Division is working on a network system using our unique wireless communication technology. We configured a high-resolution low-time-delay TV conferencing system by developing mesh-method DVB-RCS. Furthermore, by developing a narrow-band, power-saving VSAT, we succeeded in the configuration of SCADA system in the areas with no power supplies. We are thus realizing a network system that was impossible in the past, by making full use of the latest technology of wireless communication.

Development

We have original technologies in wireless communications, such as a compact power-saving VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal), and a group modulation/demodulation device that makes it possible to transmit/receive multiple carriers simultaneously. The technologies fully support a highly functional IP network system, including system configuration in areas lacking an adequate ground communication network, as well as establishment of an emergency communication network in case of disaster.

The mesh-type VSAT using DVB-RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting Return Channel Satellite) method, developed for the first time in the world, enables a direct communication between VSATs without relaying hub stations, and thus provides an interactive communication with little delay. Furthermore, a narrow-band, low-power -consumption VSAT has low operating cost because of the low band requirement, so a communication network can be established in a remote island or the areas in a developing country having no adequate power supply.

Satellite communication has the following features:

  • The mobility to be installed anywhere
  • Immediate, simultaneous broadcast to multiple locations in a wide area
  • A network that can be configured in case of disaster without depending on ground infrastructure.

These features, as well as the functions to fully support IP as a communication protocol, make it possible to configure various IP networks including:

  1. Data acquisition network (SCADA) for measurement data from areas with no power supply
  2. Simultaneous broadcast (Star type DVB-RCS) of information on disaster prevention (earthquakes, etc.)
  3. International data exchange network (mesh/star type DVB-RCS)
  4. Telephone for disaster prevention system (VoIP) and TV conference system (mesh type DVB-RCS)
  5. IP network (mesh/star type DVB-RCS) in areas with no ground communication network available, such as a mountain or ocean.
